IUD Removal

Pedagogy-IUD

Dr Sehli Quaddus, Dr Hooi Ooi, and Dr May Ann Wong are experienced in performing this procedure.

At Bloom, we provide all types of IUD removals, including the Copper IUD (Copper Coil). Before the procedure, you will need to book an appointment with your chosen GP. In some cases, your doctor may recommend an ultrasound prior to removal to ensure the process is safe and straightforward.

Why might you need an ultrasound?
IUDs can occasionally shift or migrate, which may make removal more complex. An ultrasound helps confirm the location of the device and minimises the risk of complications during the procedure.

What to expect during removal
The IUD removal process is usually quick but may cause some discomfort. You might experience cramping for up to a minute after the device is removed. To help manage this, we recommend taking over-the-counter pain relief, such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, about an hour before your appointment.

Our team is here to ensure you feel supported and informed throughout the process. If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to discuss them with your doctor.

At Bloom Women’s Wellness Clinic, we provide care for women at every stage of life—from the challenges of painful first periods to the transitions of menopause and everything in between.
